Coffee maker ideas can help
even the biggest coffee fanatic choose the best machine to create the perfect
cup or mug of coffee every time it's switched on. Possibly the first thing to be
considered is the amount of cups the machine can make. The smaller units tend to
be one to four cups, whilst the bigger units can make anything up to ten or
twelve cups in one session. It largely depends on whether you have a need to
make more cups most of the time or whether it is normally just for you and your
partner, in which case the smaller unit would be just as good.
Another key issue is the filter unit. Some coffee
makers use a paper filter, which you will need to have a supply of. Some have a
fixed mess filter which does not require the paper so is cheaper than using
paper, plus there is less waste so it is better for the environment, and there
is an improvement to the taste if you find that paper gives it a slightly
strange taste. The filter can be washed in the normal washing up. Just be
careful to remove all traces of detergent before reusing it.
One of the latest coffee maker ideas to hit the
market place and take off with massive rave reviews and critics is the 'Pod'.
This is an individual serving of coffee that is sealed into a little plastic
pod, and this is slotted into the machine creating the perfect cup of coffee
with less mess. We have just reached the point where you can now get machines
that can make traditional ground coffee, or you can use the pods which are not
cheap. You can maybe save the pods for a luxury treat, using ground coffee the
rest of the time. Others may feel that the time and effort of cleaning a
traditional machine is not worth it when you can pay slightly more and have a
pod coffee machine and spend a lot less time cleaning it.
Other
features that may help you decide which of the coffee maker ideas is for you include built in water filters which clean the
water of any impurities before making the coffee. This does add to the overall
maintenance of the unit as you have to clean it, and adds to the overall expense
as you have to change the filters. It is possible to get a unit that has a built
in bean grinder that ensures you get the freshest possible coffee experience,
but again this will come at a cost as these machines are top end of the market.
A pause and serve function is available on many
units, which means that you can remove the jug before it has fully finished and
serve some of the coffee. As soon as the jug is removed from the unit the flow
will cease, and there will be no messy dripping to clear up. A display and
control unit on the front is also a feature of many units and this can
incorporate many useful extras such as an automatic shut off, which is brilliant
if you get busy and forget to turn it off.
