You need to review all the
food processor ideas in order to decide what features are important (and not)
before you spend your money on this kitchen appliance. A food processor is
designed to be a low cost kitchen hand that can perform many functions including
chopping, dicing and mixing, and there are models available that come with a
shredding disk that is useful for making things like coleslaw.
One of the best food processor ideas is the bread
hook attachment that comes with many models, making it much easier to make bread
by hand as the kneading is the hardest part and many people find that their
hands and wrists get too painful to perform this task. The bread hook replaces
the standard blade by simply swapping them over, and you can watch the progress
as most food processors have clear-sided mixing jugs.
Some food processors have been expanded to try and
make them more attractive to the market place and have had either a juicer
attached to them or a mixing bowl, enabling perfect home baking in one useful
gadget. There has also been a lot of styling done to them, making them more
aesthetically pleasing devices that will look chic and modern on any kitchen
countertop.
Over the years food processor ideas have just kept
coming, which now means that there are many different features such as the
processing speed. However, it is always a good idea to start at the lowest speed
and manually run through until achieving the desired speed as this reduces the
amount of potential mess that can escape, and in reverse to stop so that the
blade comes to a controlled halt rather than an abrupt halt.
Most jugs have a lid which features a feeding tube
where you can drop in the food items you are chopping, slicing or dicing, and
you need to make sure there is an easy grip plug that you can force the food
down with, as you certainly don't want to put your fingers anywhere near the
inside of the machine while it is operational.
Make sure that the blade attachment is removable.
This is true for the majority of food processors and a real necessity for
cleaning purposes. Remember, the blade will be sharp so care should be taken
when removing it and washing it - and if possible ensure it is stored well out
of reach of curious toddlers and young children who might want to copy mummy in
the kitchen. It is important to get all the food debris off the various blades
which can be tricky in some cases, especially if the food has a chance to
dry. The best advice is to get the jug and all blades used into soaking as soon
as they are finished.
The newer and slightly more expensive food
processors come with a touch pad that includes pre-programmed functions. This
makes cleaning the outside of the unit easier than one that has raised push
buttons as there are less places for food debris to get stuck, which is a
definite bonus as obviously the main unit cannot be submersed in water but needs
to be wiped with a damp cloth.
