Homemade ice cream memories

I will always remember the summers with homemade ice cream at my grandparents house. They would make wonderful flavors and stand there turning the hand crank while I waited in anticipation. That feeling is something you don't forget and is why I went looking for a homemade ice cream maker. Now while there is nostalgia associated with the old fashioned hand crank option, with the rock salt and ice, I wnated to see about more modern options available to me. I do like the idea of a electric ice cream maker that has the quality of the old fashioned variety but a machine gets to do the cranking. Dual bowls to make two kinds at once is a great idea. Double the pleasure! I get to use my own quality ingrediants and have slow churned flavor. I think that modern ice cream makers would make a awesome gift and become an appliance no one will want to live without.
