We need to replace our dishwasher...

We need to replace our dishwasher and I’m glad I came upon this page. (I wasn’t sure about the tabletop model, but my girlfriend assures me we don’t want that one.) Our dishwasher is a GE, but I think it’s at least 30 years old. We have to run it twice to clean the dishes. We also just put the soap in these two compartments.

I had no idea about the salt thing. I’m not sure who I would ask about water quality. I guess they’re referring to whether or not our water is hard? If that’s the case, it helps.
